A challenge for creatives
The creation of advertising campaigns implies the rescet of Facebook restrictions, among others, the 20% rule.
It’s a real challenge for creatives to limit the amount of text in an ad.
In fact, this rule applies to Facebook and instagram posts: in images, slide shows, carousels as well as thumbnails of sponsored videos and stories, of course.
Why 20% max?
Facebook is designed to maximise the value offered to the community, to offer better quality and to limit the content of poor quality ad creations.
According to Facebook, images composed of less than 20% text were more effective.
What happens if this rule is not followed?
Until July 2019, advertisements exceeding 20% text were not broadcast. Today, with the new Facebook guidelines, creations will not be rejected if they contain more text, however, the scope will be limited.
How to check your ads with text ?
Thanks to the Text overly Tool, it was possible to calculate the text of the Facebook creations, in order to improve the amount of text displayed, including, logo, slogan, numbers, watermarks.
It doesn’t include text on your ads outside of images, such as the description, the ad copy or call to action (CTA) button.
However, the ideal is to propose a creation with an adequate, limited text, unobtrusive, and as relevant as possible, to have a high performing Facebook ad, If you want to reach and engage with potential customers.
